ABSTRACT

The purposes of this study were to examine the ways that competences were presented in the music curriculum in South Korea, France, Finland, and Australia and find implications for revision music curriculum in South Korea. For these purposes, the investigator analyzed literature and materials about music curriculums and principles forcurriculum revision in South Korea, France, Finland and Australia. Based on the findings, the study made the following proposals: first, it is important to present the relations between competences of music subject and the entire music curriculum clearly; second, the outlines and documents of the music curriculum should provide the ways that the key competences are connected with the competences in the music subject; and finally, competences in music subject should be developed in a form that can show characteristics of music curriculum.
